Our Team

Darsana Karki

Service Director & CQC Registered Manager

I am a dedicated and experienced Learning Disability  and Community Specialist Nurse (Learning disabilities) with a passion for improving the lives of individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex care needs. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in both clinical and operational roles, working across a range of services that support people with learning disabilities autism and complex care needs. My career has focused on providing person-centered care to individuals with learning disabilities and autism and their families to provide high quality person centred care.

I began my journey in nursing with a strong commitment to understanding and supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Over time, I transitioned into leadership and management roles, where I took on the responsibility of overseeing the operational aspects of  learning disability services and autism. In these roles, I have worked closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective care. I have also been responsible for managing resources, improving service efficiency, and driving initiatives that promote better outcomes for both service users and staff.

As someone who has worked at both the frontline and in management, I understand the challenges individuals with learning disabilities and autism and their family  face, as well as the complexities of running services that support them. My approach has always been rooted in compassion and collaboration, believing that the key to successful care is creating an environment where individuals feel valued, heard, and supported in achieving their full potential.

I am passionate about creating and maintaining a positive care culture, both for the individuals we support and the teams I lead. I believe that effective care is best delivered through collaboration, clear communication and shared commitment to the wellbeing of the people we support. I am also deeply committed to staff development through ensuring our teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver the highest standards of care.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and staying at the forefront of advancement in autism care and learning disability. Overall, my goal is to continue improving outcomes for the people we support, ensuring they are enabled to reach their full potential in all aspects of their life.

In addition to my professional pursuits, I have a strong interest in traveling and nature walks. I find great joy in exploring new places and immersing myself in the beauty of nature, which helps me recharge and maintain a healthy work-life balance. These interests also provide me with a fresh perspective, allowing me to connect with different cultures and environments, further broadening my understanding and approach to care.

Kamrul Hassan – Shiblee

Head Of Operations

I’ve been with Marcus and Marcus since 1998, starting as a Support Worker. Over the years, I’ve grown with the organisation, taking on roles as Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, Area Manager, and now Head of Operations. I lead a fantastic team working together to ensure our care services are of the highest quality.

What makes me proud is the journey we’ve taken – from a small team supporting a few clients to a well-established service with strong values and deep community ties. I’ve built lasting relationships with clients, families, and staff, and I believe in staying connected to the frontline to understand what’s working well and where we can improve.

I work closely with our Operations Managers, Care and Support managers and teams, and we’re committed to maintaining a supportive, effective, and collaborative culture.

Recently, I was honoured to receive a National Learning Disabilities and Autism Award for Making a Difference. This recognition not only motivates me personally but also inspires our whole team to go even further in delivering outstanding care and support.

I live with my wife, our three wonderful children, and two lovely cats. Outside of work, I enjoy football, badminton, cricket, and spending time in the garden”.

Tanzil Chowdhury

PBS Manager

I came here to the UK in 2009 as an international student (Health and Social Care management). I started working for Marcus and Marcus in 2010 as a support worker. I was then promoted to a PBS member in May 2012.

I have successfully completed my MA in Autism and now working toward my BCBA. I like hiking in the mountains or playing cricket and badminton with my friends when I am off work. I also enjoy cooking different dishes and sharing the food with the people around me.

I began managing the PBS team in June 2020 (in the middle of the pandemic and practically a brand-new team). As a PBS Manager, I ensure that we provide a very high standard of support to improve the quality of life of our service users. I also ensure that our support quality meets and exceeds the National Autistic Society standard. NAS has accredited us since 2011.

I supervise eight PBS Leads and oversee the supervision of seven PBS champions. Our primary aim is to improve quality of life by reducing challenging behaviour and creating a capable environment for the people we support.
