Old Park Ridings

Service Model

This is a 24-hour shared tenancy service. It supports five service users at 12 Old Park Ridings.

Staffing Model

All service users are supported on a 1:1 basis, with one individual receiving elements of 2:1 support. Night support is shared.

The service provides support across a wide range of areas, including:

  • Personal care (bathing, grooming, intensive personal care)
  • Daily activities and structured routines
  • Meal preparation and medication management
  • Developing daily living skills and managing finances
  • Shopping, household chores, and maintaining personal belongings
  • Dressing and ensuring personal safety
  • Promoting social inclusion and accessing the community
  • Engaging with external stakeholders such as GPs and day centres

Who is currently there?

CC (female): Requires reassurance and encouragement with personal care tasks due to sensory sensitivities. Non-verbal, communicates through gestures, signs, and visuals. Responds well to simple, keyword instructions, social stories, and praise.

JS (male): Non-verbal, communicates via body language and visuals. Requires support with personal care, dressing, and finances. Benefits from a structured weekly routine including train spotting, shopping, and walks.

RD (male): Diagnosed with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties, ADHD, and Hypomania. Limited verbal ability, communicates through body language and visuals. Strong need for human connection through physical interaction. Requires full support with hygiene and showering.

RH (male): Diagnosed with Autism and Learning Disability. Non-verbal, communicates via visuals and body language. Needs support with eating and weight management. Can present with anxiety and physical aggression; staff use calm de-escalation. Requires assistance with domestic chores and hygiene.

RM (male): Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome and Paranoid Schizophrenia. Experiences anxiety and stress as key triggers. Communicates verbally but may struggle with figurative language or accents. Requires support with personal care, medication management, health appointments, and travel to new places.

Who is the service suitable for?

  • Individuals with learning disabilities, Autism spectrum conditions, and complex communication needs, including non-verbal or limited verbal ability.
  • People requiring full or partial support with personal care, hygiene, daily living tasks, and health management.
  • Those who benefit from structured routines, social interaction, meaningful activities, and reassurance in a family-style, shared environment.

Who is it not suitable for?

  • Individuals able to live fully independently without support.
  • People unable to safely engage in a shared, social household environment due to risk to self or others.
  • Those unwilling or unable to participate in community or group activities.
